A New Chapter For Seaforth Vets

We’re excited to announce that Seaforth Vets is under new management. After a long and rewarding career with over 20 years at Seaforth, Dr Rob Miller has hung up his stethoscope and has retired from veterinary practice. Dr Rob looked long and hard for the best team to take over the practice and has handed over to two vets who have a strong connection with Seaforth Vets and the Northern Beaches. We are thrilled to introduce Drs. Dave Collins and Lewis Hunt and our incredible team.

Our Expert Team

Dr. Lewis Hunt - Veterinarian

Dr. Lewis Hunt

Dr Lewis is one of our experienced veterinarians, as well as co-owner of Seaforth Veterinary Hospital. His father, Dr Tony Hunt, owned Figtree Veterinary Clinic in Lane Cove for many years, so veterinary medicine flows strongly through his veins. He grew up surrounded by a menagerie of pets and wildlife. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2007 and spent the next year working in general practice prior to doing a Surgical Internship in Melbourne.

Following his internship he spent four years locuming around the UK, before settling into a small animal practice in London, coincidentally owned by another Australian! He returned to Sydney in 2013, with a wide range of medical and surgical experience under his belt, to work in both emergency medicine and general practice. He was the senior vet and practice owner at Collaroy Plateau Veterinary Hospital (now Aubreen Veterinary Hospital) for 8 years.

Lewis has also been featured as one of the new Bondi Vets in Bondi Vet: Coast to Coast which was shown on Channel 9. He is also an ambassador for GAP (Greyhounds as pets). He has a particular interest in medicine and surgery and loves building long term relationships with his clients and patients.

Lewis lives locally with his family and has a gorgeous natured (but not very bright) Golden Retriever called Murphy and a cat called Boston. In his spare time he loves riding bikes, paddling surf skis and playing cricket or tennis with his Son.

Dr. Dave Collins - Veterinarian

Dr. Dave Collins

Dave Collins grew up in Manly and is a 1995 University of Sydney Bachelor of Veterinary Science graduate. With his father and fellow veterinarian, Dr Terry Collins, he has spent his life around dogs and cats and spent some early years around Seaforth Vet Hospital.

After graduating, he spent a couple of years in small animal and equine practice in Melbourne before heading to the UK.

He returned to Sydney in 2002, working at Seaforth Vets with his dad. Dave worked here for a number of years while pursuing further education, including advanced membership examinations with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and a placement at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney. In 2008 he started his residency training in small animal internal medicine, obtaining his specialist qualification in 2013. As a part of this he has also undergone specialist training in advanced ultrasound procedures, echocardiography, chemotherapy and endoscopy.

In 2015 he co-founded Northside Veterinary Specialists (now The Pet Specialists), who now have a new purpose built specialist facility at Terrey Hills.

With Dr Lewis Hunt he is proud to be also back at Seaforth Vets as a new owner and is excited to help Seaforth pet families optimise their pets’ health.

When not being a vet, Dave loves to be surfing, skiing or cycling, playing with dogs, or practising his Italian or guitar playing badly.

Dr Libby Thompson, Veterinarian

Dr. Libby Thompson

Graduated from Sydney Univ. in 1985 with a bachelor of Pharmacology. Then in 1990 with a bachelor of Veterinary Science. This was followed by a short stint in mixed practice in South Australia before working as a pure small animal veterinarian at Ryde Veterinary Clinic for 9.5 years. Libby also has an interest in art, gaining her Diploma of Fine Arts from the Northern Beaches TAFE in 2004. Libby joined Seaforth Vets in a full time position in July 2009.

Dr. Veronica Gibb-Cumming - Veterinarian

Dr. Veronica Gibb-Cumming

I dreamt of becoming a vet since I was five years of age, but ended up in the family’s graphic design business until my mid 20s when I finally decided to pursue my dream of becoming a vet. I graduated from Sydney University in 2008 with a bachelors degree in veterinary science. I started working at Seaforth Veterinary Hospital as a locum in 2014 and never ended up leaving as I loved the clinic and its patients so much. I enjoy all aspects of general practice medicine, including geriatric medicine and focusing on quality of life for senior dogs and cats. I have never been without a cat in my life and have a special interest in all things feline, including feline behaviour. My own cat certainly provides much practice in behavioural challenges!
